Optimal or OK Health?

We all have a familiar rhythm to our lives that includes the food we eat, the activities we choose, and the time we set aside to be with the people who nourish us.

It’s a wonder to consider that our bodies are so resilient—they can keep going (at least for a while) with an incredible spectrum of choices: from fast food to a colorful plant-based diet, from a sedentary lifestyle to an active one.

So what difference do our choices really make?

The difference is optimal vs. OK health.

OK health allows us to get by for the moment—although not feeling our best— while setting us up for a host of chronic conditions down the road.

Optimal health gives us more energy now, and stacks the deck to avoid the problems and pills so common with age. I’ve seen the difference in over 25 years of practicing medicine.

So I invite you to examine your own choices—and to actively consider: which come from inertia and which ones serve you best?
